What is a MULTILIT Registered Practitioner?
A MULTILIT Registered Practitioner is a tutor or teacher who has undertaken accreditation training and who has become registered with MULTILIT, giving them permission to use the well-established MULTILIT brand in their marketing. Individuals or companies can become registered.
What are the benefits of becoming a MULTILIT Registered Practitioner?
Registered Practitioners enjoy the credibility that the MULTILIT name brings. There are also discounts on MULTILIT services and products as well as ongoing support and access to MULTILIT marketing materials.
Do you need to have specific qualifications to be a MULTILIT Registered Practitioner?
We are looking to license people or organisations with relevant experience in the area of literacy instruction and/or qualifications in education or related professions. The nature of the program does need a high level of commitment.
Will I receive any training if I become a registered?
You will need to undergo compulsory accreditation (three days). At the moment this course is held in Sydney only. This is part of the registration process.
How do I know if I am suitable to become a MULTILIT Registered Practitioner?
In addition to possessing relevant qualifications and experience, a MULTILIT practitioner needs to have the following qualities and skills:
• Excellent communication skills and a good command of English
• Able to clearly say the sounds from the MULTILIT Sound Prompt cards (see MULTILIT Toolbox)
• Able to follow a clearly laid out program conscientiously
• Able to motivate and encourage struggling readers with patience
• Able to provide a positive learning environment in which to deliver the program
• Able to work alongside parents/carers in a constructive way
• Able to monitor progress of students
• Able to keep records
What happens if my business grows and I need to employ more tutors?
A Registered Practitioner needs to ensure that anyone delivering the program has undergone the accreditation training. You will need to upgrade your level of registration from ‘individual’ to ‘company’ if more than one tutor is working under your registration.
How often do accreditation courses run?
These are run several times throughout the year in Sydney. The MULTILIT website will provide further details. (click here to calendar)
Can I do the accreditation without becoming registered?
Yes, you can attend accreditation without becoming registered but that does not permit you to use the MULTILIT brand in your advertising. Accreditation gives you a more detailed overview of the program which is valued by many Learning Support Teachers overseeing MULTILIT in their schools.
Can not-for-profit organisations become registered?
Yes. Not-for-profit organisations will benefit from the credibility that comes from using a research-based program linked to a good university. It could add weight to funding applications because the program gets results and has a high level of accountability.
Can I become registered at a later date, after I have become accredited?
It is possible to become accredited and then to become registered later. If there is a lapse of more than a year since accreditation, you might be required to attend the one-day workshop as a refresher at additional cost and re-take the assessment.
If I have done the one day workshop do I need to attend the whole accreditation course?
This will depend on how recently you attended the workshop. If you would like to attend accreditation within the same year that you attended a workshop, you will only need to do Day 2 and Day 3 of the accreditation course.
Do I have to become registered to use the MULTILIT Reading Tutor Program outside a school environment?
No. You are able to use the program without becoming registered, but please note you may not use the MULTILIT brand in your advertising unless you are officially registered with MULTILIT. We strongly advise all those who purchase the program to consider attendance at the one-day workshop in order to learn about the delivery of the program irrespective of becoming registered.
